5/9/13: Construction of the Whitin Well Treatment Facility is complete and the facility is in service.
General Filter System Description: The new treatment facility houses three greensand pressure filters to remove the iron and manganese from the Whitin Well. A new building has been constructed adjacent to the existing well station which houses the pressure filters and associated equipment. Water from the existing well station is re-directed to the new building and will pass through the new filter system before going out into the water system. The exisitng treatment at the existing facility will remain in place. A new computer automated monitor and control system has been installed which monitors and controls this facility. The filters are currently removing 99%+ of the iron and manganese from the well. Some photos of the facility are posted below.
